Patience by definition is ‘the ability to wait, or to continue doing something despite difficulties, or to suffer without complaining or becoming annoyed’ – https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/patience
So when it comes to your goals and ambitions, whether you are designing and developing them or you are trying to execute them, you need to understand that it will take time. You need to be patient with the process. The ‘virtuous’ part of it is that you will gain much more by being patient if you rush the process you can end up forcing things which could have a detrimental or negative effect on the outcome to both what you are trying to achieve and accomplish, as well as to yourself.

Knowing When to Change Gears and Make Changes is Important – Reflect, Evaluate, Adjust and Execute
It is all too easy to feel like you are ‘behind’, you need to stop the comparison game. When you do this you are able to reflect on the process and strategy, you are able to obtain data and results which you can then evaluate calmly. From this evaluation, you can then adjust your plan/process/strategy accordingly and take action. Then you need to patiently watch and repeat this process. This process will allow you to know when you need to make changes and change gears if you are looking to level up your life, career or business.
Just like how you need to change gears slowly and carefully in a car you need to do the same in life, otherwise, you can cause real damage. Impatient people can be impulsive in a negative way and make bad decisions.
That being said when the results are telling you to change something, speed up or slow down then do so, and get the right people to support you.
Patience vs Procrastination
There is a difference between being patient and procrastinating and be sure that you are being honest with yourself about what you are doing. Being patient is being productive and active and taking consistent action on a daily basis to achieve what you want. Procrastination is when you are looking and thinking, but not actually doing anything.
An analogy we can use here is like when conducting an experiment. You research and design your experiment but in order to get your own results, you need to actually carry out the experiment or in some cases multiple experiments, then you need to make conclusions and evaluations based on the results. You interpret the evidence/results and make the necessary changes and developments. This takes time and patience. This is essentially what you want to do when it comes to life, career, and business.
Be Patient – Especially when experiencing ‘Failure’
The process, the journey, will involve ‘failure’. It is during these times that your patience will be put the test. When you are experiencing failure, you need to stop and take a breath. Then do as we said earlier – Reflect, Evaluate, Adjust and Execute
The worst thing you could do is react, if you are reactive, you most definitely will do more harm than good. There is a difference between acting quickly and efficiently and being reactive.
Respect the Process and Enjoy the Journey
Some of you may have heard this a number of times but you need to drill it into your subconscious. An analogy we can use here is like when traveling the world. Yes, you could quite literally go to a new place every single day, but do you really gain all the value that you can or experience and learn everything you need to? The answer is no. You become so concerned with moving onto the next destination that you miss the value and lessons that each experience is meant to give that essentially makes the whole experience worthwhile. This is the same when it comes to life, career, and business. When you are patient and respecting the process you are picking up all the skills, knowledge and lessons that you need to and then be able to pay it forward to your future successes. That’s not to say that you can’t be efficient, of course, you can, but know the difference. Enjoy yourself as well, just because it is challenging doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be having fun, remember you need to be happy while on the journey.
Be Patient With Yourself
It is very easy to get negatively critical when it comes to how quickly you are making progress. Be patient with yourself. If you are doing everything you need to, then all it takes is time.
