The Emotional Rollercoaster You Experience When Creating a Start-Up
Lack of knowledge
Regardless if you have worked in an industry for 20 years of if you have just graduated, no one tells you intricate little details as to how to set up your own business. For example, setting up a domain name email is a challenge within itself. Take pride that setting up a business is a learning curve and will increase your knowledge.
Fear
Have no fear – we have all been there! To every positive attribute in being your own boss, there are also negative ones. Fears can be internal, for example, I repetitively thought to myself ‘am I good enough at this to succeed?’ or external fears such as financial loss. From a woman who had been on 9 face to face interviews without one offer and in debt from university, these setbacks in our career take a toll on our self-worth. But if you have the drive and persecution, your return of investment both emotionally and physically will be handed to you.
Stress
Stress is within every job an individual can do, business owner or not. However, when you have your own business it is a different type of stress. Before working for yourself the most stressful part of a job is not to upset your manager. However, you are now the boss. So everything lies on your shoulders. The way stress is dealt with is by remembering that even though you have a lot to lose, you will have more to gain
Finally, the moment we have all been hoping for! Intuition told you this was a good idea so every hurdle that might arise you have or are in the process of combatting, you have solved. You feel empowered because you made that target, that quota, that client; you finally made your dream a reality. You are an empowered businesswoman.
