Society of overworked
It’s no wonder that we live in a society of overworked, emotionally exhausted and physically drained women. We try to do it all for everyone and what’s left in the day goes to our goals and what we want to accomplish for ourselves. It’s easy to get tired, lose your joy and sense of pleasure. You could have the job of your dreams right now, the family you prayed for or you may be working on a new project or business but weariness sets in and you’re not passionate about it anymore. It’s taking a toll because the hours are long or because a business or personal battle takes longer than we thought and we become weary and want to give up at times.
Recently I spoke to a woman who at one time thought she had it all. The big house, handsome husband and traveling the world. When her husband decides younger was better, she was left with a state of emptiness and emotional distress. She could not see a light at the end of the tunnel and she begins to journal her thoughts, pains, and setbacks. She turned her notes into a self-help book for other women that hit top 100 twice over 2 years. She could’ve easily quit and sank into a deep depression, but she realized what she needed were balance, patience, and purpose.
Many of us suffer from life battle fatigue
Many of us suffer from life battle fatigue. You’re believing in a promotion, waiting for a business to take off, living financially strapped hoping for the next big deal or waiting for the right partner to come along but nothing has happened yet. Remember don’t get weary in well doing.
This means, you’re doing the right things but not seeing the right results.
Don’t let time defeat you, don’t allow negative thoughts convince you to settle. Your mind will give you a good excuse to stop but if you dwell on those thoughts the weariness will come. Remember it’s you that opens the door to negativism. It’s a choice to accept the negative thoughts and instead keep telling yourself to take hold of your strength. When you’re weary and feeling life battle fatigue you won’t have the determination, passion or courage to fight the good fight of success. You can talk yourself into defeat and weakness or you can talk yourself into victory and strength. When you speak to yourself the right way, courage, vision, and determination follow.
You may feel tired but don’t verbalize it, this gives it life. Instead, verbalize “I know this is tough, but I am strong, bold and fierce. I will be everything I have dreamed of. “
The story of overcoming battle fatigue
My favorite story of overcoming battle fatigue comes from a woman who could have easily given up. Not only did she fail to make progress on the first book she wrote, but after falling in, and out of, love, she ended up with a failed marriage and a baby daughter she had to raise alone. She had no job, no finished product and two mouths to feed and felt she had hit rock bottom.
She was struggling with depression, raising a child on her own and living off unemployment benefits. She resumed her work on her book in cafes while her daughter was asleep but despite numerous setbacks, she found solace in doing what she loved – writing. She had ended up in exactly the position she had feared most and found that it wasn’t that bad when she began to change her mindset on positive outcomes. After all, there wasn’t anything left to be afraid of.
When she finally finished the first three chapters, she sent the manuscript off to a publisher and they quickly passed on the project.
She sent it to another publisher. Again, the answer was no. Her mailbox filled up with rejection letters, but she didn’t let it stop her.
After sending her manuscript to 12 different publishers and getting rejected by every single one, she began losing confidence in her book. Finally, the editor at Bloomsbury Publishing company sat down to read the manuscript along with the editors’ 8-year-old daughter. The little girl loved the opening chapters and begged to read the whole thing. This made the publisher agree to publish her novel. She was thrilled and left with a warning: that she should get a day job because she wouldn’t make any money writing children’s books. She proved everyone wrong when Once Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone was published.
J.K. Rowling
J.K. Rowling went from being a jobless single mother living off unemployment benefits to one of the best-selling authors of all time. But it didn’t happen overnight. She faced rejection and constantly strived for success. She worked hard at her craft before anyone noticed her. That practice, along with strengthening herself against rejection, was what made her work unforgettable. Looking back, the Harry Potter series has earned over $400 million in book sales, and the last movie alone earned $476 million dollars in ticket sales… on opening weekend. She was the first female to become a billionaire author.
It’s easy to get discouraged when things are not turning out in your time, meditate on a favor from everyone you meet and focus on the outcome of victory and live with expectancy. If your setbacks and obstacles haven’t taken you out, then don’t let them wear you out. If you have a dream or a passion and you keep getting rejected or running into failure, don’t let that stop you. If you’re going through a tough time in your life, but working on something you really believe in, don’t give up. If you do, you’ll never know what could have been. Who knows, you might end up breaking records.
