Success can be achieved through revenue, viewership, the number of social media followers, the prominence of certain businesses, readership, and so much more. How we define it is subjective.
In a sea of marketing agency entrepreneurs, readers often stumble across successful business founders who dove into unknown waters with the purpose of providing services for voices that need to be heard.
24 East Media’s founder Amanda Kacperowski is one of those extraordinary founders. Women On Topp spoke with Kacperowski about her experiences as an incredibly motivated, business-minded woman.
What inspired you to start 24 East Media?
I worked in a corporate office doing a job that I loved but working for a boss who did not believe in innovation or keeping up with current trends, but that was the least of my concerns. I overheard him telling a client that he strongly believed women don’t belong in business and that the women he had working for him were just there to be the “pretty faces.”
At that moment I immediately quit and was more motivated than ever to prove him wrong and prove to myself that I could do anything I put my mind to. I brainstormed names, created the social media accounts and the rest is history.
Today I stand as the founder and CEO with a team of people underneath me helping me live out my dream while I help them create theirs.
Tell us more about 24 East Media Agency, who are your clients, what are they looking for?
Our clients are from all different industries across the nation. They range from startups to established businesses, but all have struggled with marketing or branding along the way. Some are looking for social media help and how to truly establish their brand identity and some are looking for lead generation to fill their books or make a sale.
Why is social media marketing important for every business?
I believe social media is the portfolio and voice of a business. Social media is one of the most important touchpoints as a business and allows a brand to create a voice, showcase their work and interact with their audience, making it more personal. It also enables you to learn about the likes and interests of your audience and helps shape the perfect strategy.
Do you have any special advice for other ‘digital divas’ out there?
Don’t ever stop learning. Continue to educate yourself and invest in yourself because the digital world and digital trends change daily and there is always something new! Follow people on social media who are doing something similar to you, learn from them and set goals for yourself. If you have the opportunity to go to mastermind events, go, because it allows you to network and get inspired.
What are the key metrics you look at when searching for influencers?
From the perspective of the audience the amount of followers a person has is key but from the perspective of a digital marketer on the inside, who the audience is and what the influencer attracts is key. If you are selling men’s clothing, you probably aren’t going to ask Kim Kardashian to be your brand ambassador, are you? It is all about reaching the right audience and making sure you are appealing to your ideal customer.
How has covid-19 affected the services of 24 East Media so far? Which ones have gotten better and which ones worse?
Covid-19 has actually helped our services as a digital marketing agency. We have built and refreshed many websites for brands since everything truly became mostly digital. I would say website development and social media management have really grown over the past year.
What has been your greatest accomplishment so far?
My greatest accomplishment so far has been having the courage to grow and break out of my shell. Through 24 East Media, I was able to create another branch of my brand called Boss Babe Energy which is a community of woman entrepreneurs who can network and help each other in the business. I also started a podcast where each week we cover marketing topics that will help boss babes level up their brands and motivate them to keep doing the damn thing. You can follow our page at @bbabeenergy and join our free Facebook group for free guides, tips & tricks.
In which area would you like to improve as an entrepreneur?
I’d love to become a coach for women and host in-person events. I need to face my fear of public speaking in front of large crowds but that is a dream of mine for Boss Babe Energy.
What are your current goals?
My current goals are to continue to grow not only my cliental but my team. I’d love to have a big team working together and to bounce ideas off of each other. I am a true believer in masterminds and larger events where you can network and meet people in your field and even outside of your field and get inspired. I’d love to attend more.
I also want to show the smaller businesses that big brands started out small just like them and had to grow and work hard to get to where they are today. Some people expect overnight success, and hey sometimes you get lucky, but we are here to support you and help you grow.
What is the best advice you have ever received?
A friend reminds me all the time that “the biggest failure in life is fear” and that really resonates me. When I’m afraid I know that I need to do it because success is just on the other side of fear.
What has been your favorite moment in your career so far?
When people tell me that I am an inspiration to them and that I motivate them to pursue their dreams that is how I know that I made the right decision in life and I never want to stop.
