How do you balance the need for rapid growth with maintaining the quality and compassion that are core to your company’s mission?
Balancing rapid growth while maintaining quality and compassion is essential in Family Source Consultants’ mission, which requires strategic planning, leveraging our extensive experience, and making necessary adjustments to ensure alignment with our mission. We prioritize sustainable growth by investing in scalable systems and technology, streamlining operations without compromising our personal touch. Our dedicated team, with extensive industry expertise, ensures that each family building journey consistently meets the highest standards, while comprehensive staff training emphasizes empathy and professionalism, often featuring industry reproductive professionals. Our commitment to ethical standards ensures our growth is both rapid and responsible and consistently reflects our core values of quality, attention, and compassion.
How has the landscape of third-party reproduction evolved since you started Family Source Consultants, and what future trends do you foresee?
Since opening our doors in 2007, the third-party reproduction landscape has evolved significantly with increased societal acceptance, technological advancements in IVF, genetic screening, and global demand. The general public’s understanding and acceptance of surrogacy and egg donation have grown considerably. Media coverage, celebrity endorsements, and advocacy from LGBTQ+ communities have played a significant role in normalizing surrogacy and egg donation. Additionally, there is now a greater emphasis on psychological and emotional support for all parties involved to ensure comprehensive counseling and support services are available to support surrogates, donors, and intended parents. The introduction of frozen egg programs has enhanced flexibility and success rates over the years, and we see an increasing interest. Looking ahead, personalized medicine, stronger ethical and legal regulations, affordability, and sustainability continue to be key trends.
In leading a company that deals with such personal and sensitive matters, how do you ensure your team remains empathetic while also achieving business goals?
We start by embedding empathy, compassion, and understanding into the company’s mission and values, with leadership setting the example; this top-down approach reinforces the importance of empathy in our daily operations. We aim to hire professionals who naturally demonstrate empathy and a solid work ethic while understanding the commitment to superior customer service, often during stressful situations. Family Source Consultants is committed to excellence – this includes being patient, understanding, and responsive to the needs of our clients, surrogates, and egg donors.
FSC implements regular feedback methods for continuous improvement and offers professional development opportunities focused on empathy and best practices. We regularly seek feedback to understand the experiences of our intended parents, egg donors, and surrogates and adjust accordingly. We foster open communication within the team, allowing for the discussion of challenges and improvements. By embedding empathy into our culture, hiring and training for it, and supporting our team’s well-being, we create an environment where both our team and our clients feel valued and understood
Looking ahead, what are your primary goals for Family Source Consultants in the next five years, and how do you plan to achieve them?
If I revealed that, I’d have to hire you on the spot!! But let’s just say it involves a lot of strategic planning and a dash of creativity. We’ll achieve our growth goals by using advanced technology to streamline operations and forming strategic partnerships with key players. We’ll continue to enhance our brand through targeted marketing, ensuring our reputation for excellence continues to be recognized.
The real secret, though, is that we have an unbeatable team that turns dreams into reality! Our FSC team is our greatest asset, and we will continue to invest in attracting and retaining top talent committed to FSC’s vision.
How did your personal experience as an intended parent influence your approach to running Family Source Consultants?
My personal journey and experience as an intended parent have profoundly shaped how the agency operates. Experiencing the surrogacy process myself gave me firsthand insight into the emotional rollercoaster and the complexities involved. This experience also instilled a deep empathy for our clients, an enormous appreciation and gratitude for surrogates and egg donors, and a commitment to providing the support and guidance they need and deserve.
Understanding the emotional highs and lows has made me prioritize compassionate and personalized service. I recognize how crucial it is to have a reliable and understanding support system, so we’ve built a team that embodies these values. We focus on clear communication, transparency, and being there for our clients, our surrogates, and our donors.
How do you balance the demands of being a CEO with spending quality time with your family?
Balancing my role as CEO with family time is a bit of a juggling act, and I’ll admit, I’m not always the best at it because I genuinely love my work and rarely ever stop. Thankfully, my family understands my passion. I carve out quality moments – my husband and I kick off each day by enjoying coffee and quality conversations. I make it a point to connect daily with my children (all adults, with the youngest being in college) and catch up over lunch or dinner frequently. So, while I might be a bit work-obsessed, family time always finds its place in my schedule and is very much cherished.
What are your go-to activities or rituals for unwinding and finding relaxation amid your busy schedule?
To unwind amid my busy schedule, I have a few go-to activities that help me relax and recharge. I love reading motivational articles for inspiration, listening to podcasts that offer fresh perspectives and ideas, getting lost in great music, and floating in the pool. These simple rituals are my secret to finding balance and keeping my mind refreshed.
What advice would you give to other women aspiring to lead in industries that require both emotional intelligence and strategic thinking?
