“Sometimes when things are falling apart, they may actually be falling into place.” ~ J. Lynn
Why is it that when one thing goes wrong everything else seems to follow? We’ve all had that moment in life where it seems like life has taken a turn for the worst and we’ve lost control. Panic mode sets in. And then all of a sudden your inner voice creeps in and reminds you that everything in your life is horribly wrong. It may also be telling you that you have failed, there is no way out and that this will never end. But really is this true?
Grab ahold of yourself! It’s not true. The real truth is that you have seen the bottom before and you’ve come back from it. You have. Take a moment to step back and look at all the times that you were in the thick of it and somehow, someway, you found a way through. If you can’t see this right now you need to step away from your current situation. It is impossible to get a clear picture when you are standing right in the middle of the mess. Step away. Try some of these simple tips to clear your head and get you back on track.
Reevaluate your Goals
Our lives change every day and as we are working towards our goals they change. A month ago you may have been working towards something that your heart no longer desires. It is important to sit down and reevaluate what those goals are as you may find that they have changed. You may find that as you’ve gotten closer to your goals it’s not what you really wanted. The most important thing to do right now is to get clarity. What is that you want to do? Why did you set out to do it?
Slow Down
Stop swerving through the fast lane. The truth is when we do this we miss all of the signs that are offering us lessons and tools on our journey, and then we crash. We burn out. We become over exhausted, defeated and negative. When we slow down we are in a better mindset to see all of the signs.
Self Care
The only way to clear your head when you are in the middle of a failure meltdown is to take care of yourself. Every person has their own unique definition of what self-care looks like to them, but whatever it is do more of it. Self-care allows you to reconnect with what is really important. So try some yoga, running, walking, hiking, go to the beach, take a bath, play with a puppy, bake some cookies, meditate or get on a bike. Just get out there and get out of your head.
Count Your Blessings
Yes, as cheesy as it is we all need to be reminded “every curse is a blessing in disguise”. There is a reason that something is not working so if you find yourself continuously struggling with the same thing STOP. Step away. Take a deep breath. Blast Pandora and dance it out and then come back. You need to create an opportunity for you to see that there may be another way towards your goal. There is always another way.
Just remember life is a journey. Every piece of that journey, good and bad is a lesson and without each lesson, we would never know how to move forward. So the real truth is we need to begin to see setbacks or “failures” as opportunities to grow and learn. Opportunities to gain wisdom, enhance your skillset and ultimately conquer the next hurdle with ease. Just take it one day at a time and one day you will look back and it will all make sense.
