Empowering Advice on Why You Should Follow Your Dreams
Antonia Hock
Antonia Hock is a successful female leader, luxury expert (she was named to 2019 Luxury Daily Top 25 Women to Watch List), and the global head of the Ritz-Carlton Leadership Center, a leading consultancy that advises organizations on customer experience (CX).
She says, “Don’t live a fear-based life. As we grow older, we question our behavior more, second guess, and worry about failing publicly. And with that, we lose the power to chase our dreams or take the plunge. Your life is your message, so don’t let it be ruled by fear. Challenge yourself to always make the choice that you truly want, show the world why you are here, and never allow fear to be the reason you don’t.”
Bobbie Brown
Bobbi Brown made a name for herself as a professional makeup artist who launched her famed cosmetics company, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics. She’s written multiple books about makeup and beauty and has been a Contributing Beauty & Lifestyle Editor of Health magazine. Most recently, she launched a wellness-based beauty company called Evolution_18. This new venture was launched as a way to introduce consumers to the idea that “beauty comes from within”. Through high-performing, clean ingredients, the line of wellness supplements were created to boost skin’s natural radiance, enhance your glow, and make your more beautiful
To inspire you to follow your dreams, Bobbi says, ” If you believe in something, don’t ever give up. If one door closes, find a window to climb through. Surround yourself with loyal people who are good at doing the things you are not. Failure does not mean defeat. You have to be able to get back up again and learn and grow from your mistakes.”
Georgene Huang
When you’re hunting for your dream job, then one of the first places to help guide you in the right direction is Fairygodboss. It is the largest career community for women, reaching millions of women seeking advice and support in their careers. Created by CEO & Co-Founder Georgene Huang, she launched this business as a way to help women get ahead in their careers.
She says, “Dreams can sometimes feel out of reach, but I believe the best way to do something, is to do it. If you have to have passion and dedication for what you do, it’s more likely you’ll be successful and at the end of the day, happier. The world isn’t always a fair place but there are things you can do. You do have power. To maximize your power, you have to take advantage of every resource available to you.”
Lisa Sugar
Lisa Sugar is the Co-Founder & Editor-in-Chief of PopSugar (which is a global media and technology company that reaches 300 million monthly readers and 32 million social media followers) and the author of the book, Power Your Happy: Work Hard, Play Nice, and Build Your Dream Life. PopSugar creates engaging content designed to “power the optimism and dreams of women around the world through positive, purposeful, and playful content”. From celebrity pop culture, fashion, and beauty articles to fitness videos and more, PopSugar has developed a variety of multi-media channels to serve its (primarily) female-based Millennial audience.
Lisa says, “Stay passionate and excited about what you believe in. There will be obstacles and inner voices saying it’s the wrong time but if you truly believe in something don’t wait. Find any spare time you can to work on what you are daydreaming about. It may take weeks or years but hopefully, it will happen with passion, patience, and determination.”
Julia Haart
And, last but certainly not least, Julia Haart is the Group Chief Executive Officer & Board of Directors of Elite Model World and the Creative Director of the brand’s new fashion label e1972 (which made its global debut at NYFW in February 2020). Elite Model World forms the largest model management network on the planet. They represent over 3,700 top models and talent (including Kendall Jenner, Irina Shayk, and Adriana Lima) across 52 countries.
Julia exclaims, “Give yourself permission to dream big. So often the limitations that we see are in our own minds and as women, we have been taught to aspire for less, to be “pleasing and grateful.” This is the biggest impediment to success. Allow yourself to claim what you really want and then go for it!”
No matter what dreams you might have – whether they’re personal or professional, always remember that you can do anything if you are passionate, committed, and determined to make it happen. Keep believing in yourself, in your capability to learn new skills and get smarter, and in your innate talents. You were born to dream big for a reason. Trust that you are destined for greatness from these tips of Empowering Advice on Why You Should Follow Your Dreams.
