In a time where women and men are working equally, how and when do you fit in everything? We have to be a mother, work on your side hustle that will one day turn into a growing business, career; that keeps the lights on, feeds your family, benefits and a 401K.  We all have dreams, but at times it feels like we aren’t fulfilling those dreams because of the load we are carrying everyday. We feel like we need a break and life just won’t hand it to us.

How

Did our mothers do this? I swear my mother was really superwoman. It was four of us, she worked two hours away, three days a week, made sure we ate good, home cooked meals each night- the occasional fast food/pizza night did happen, but not much and we had fun. We were involved in all the activities we wanted, had friends, and were happy….

Now

I am figuring this superwoman thing out and it feels like I am running a mile a minute with not a spare moment in sight, just hoping that I am filling every expectation with my 1 daughter. Understand, we can be our hardest critics. We probably are doing better than we think we are.

This

May sound like a regular day for you… Get up at the crack of dawn, get your kid/kids ready, and grab a fast breakfast out the door. Drive in whatever horrendous traffic your city may provide to sit in line to drop off your kid in the parent line, with the other impatient parents barley making it to work on time. Just when you think you’re out the door the teacher grabs you to let you know it’s your turn to bring in snacks for the whole class next week and volunteer because you haven’t participated yet this year… And because you don’t want to be singled out as the “mom” who doesn’t help, you over commit and make it happen!

As

You make it into work, finally, you have figured out your make up is half done, you have sweat marks under your arms and all you can think about is your first cup of coffee… and no one saying a word until you get your life all the way together!

But

There is an upside, this your time! Yes, I said it! Going to work is almost like a get away. It’s like your time to concentrate on what you know is best. Now this is no way a form of a vacation, because we know we all need those, but this is time for You to focus on You! Be ambitious, create opportunities, and make things happen that your family will be proud of.

When you get home spend sacred time with them, love on them and when they go to bed sneak away and work on your dreams, the things that make your heart beat faster, what wakes you up and keeps your mind thinking. Find your sacred moment whether at night or in the early morning. Be kind to yourself and know that whatever you do, its your best and you ARE SUPERWOMAN
